Is Aaron Donald returning to Rams? Kyren Williams doesn’t know but hopes so

People continue to have their eyes on NFL Hall of Famer Aaron Donald, who entertains coming out of retirement to return to the Los Angeles Rams. Star running back Kyren Williams provided his thoughts on the current situation.

Donald last played in the NFL in 2023, retiring from the sport as one of the greatest defenders in history. He also has a Super Bowl to show for it, reaching the mountaintop with the Rams in 2021.

Donald has been recently present at the Rams’ practice sessions, having played for them his entire career from 2014 to 2023. Williams, who worked alongside Donald for two seasons in 2022 and 2023, is hopeful that his former co-star can make his way back on the team in the near future.

“I’ve seen the videos that you and everybody has seen from the internet. That’s the only way I’ve seen Aaron Donald. But I’m going off what Coach McVay’s the last thing he said, and I heard that he’s trending like an upwards arrow. Whatever that may mean, in terms of him coming back or him not coming back, I think that the viewer can take what was given from Coach McVay. We hope that we get AD back, but we’re going to continue to keep working as if he’s not going to be here, and we’re going to continue to keep just being the dogs that we are,” Williams said on First Things First.

What lies ahead for Kyren Williams, Rams

Kyren Williams will keep track of Aaron Donald’s status. In the meantime, he and the Rams have Super Bowl aspirations to pursue this season.

The Rams seek to improve upon their 12–5 record last season and make the playoffs for the fourth consecutive year. This will be the first season since 2022 without Mike LaFleur as offensive coordinator, as he departed to become the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals.

Los Angeles looks forward to the start of its season, traveling internationally to Australia. They begin the campaign against the San Francisco 49ers as kickoff takes place on Sept. 10 at 8:35 p.m. ET.
