Dave Roberts drops ‘different’ evaluation of Tarik Skubal before Dodger Stadium debut

The Los Angeles Dodgers are set to take on the Kansas City Royals on Monday at 10:10 p.m. EST. It will be Tarik Skubal’s first game on the mound at Dodger Stadium, as he plays his second contest with the club since being traded by the Detroit Tigers. Hours before the start of the matchup, manager Dave Roberts opened up about how unique an individual Skubal truly is.

While talking with media members during the pregame press conference, Roberts claimed that the 29-year-old left-hander is unlike any other player he’s ever been around, according to Fredo Cervantes of the Sporting Tribune. The Dodgers’ longtime manager is ultimately impressed with Skubal and looks forward to his impact with this L.A. team.

“He’s as different as anyone I’ve ever been around in this short period of time,” Roberts said about Skubal. “He’s special in every way… Very excited to get to know him more and be around him, watch him compete. See what makes him tick… This guy is something like I’ve never seen.”
