Larry Fitzgerald’s heartfelt message to Cris Carter after HOF induction

The 2026 Pro Football Hall of Fame class featured a who’s who of greatness and personality. Among them is beloved Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald showed love to Cardinals fans as well as one of his fellow inductees.

After his official induction on Saturday in Canton, Ohio, Fitzgerald took to social media to express appreciation for celebrating with fellow Hall of Famer and his childhood idol, Cris Carter.

Fitzgerald got to see Carter firsthand with the Vikings as a 15-year-old ball boy. He specifically chose Carter to be the one to don him with the gold jacket. It was a touching moment for Fitzgerald in more ways than one. In June, his father, Larry Fitzgerald Sr., passed away at the age of 71.

Carter played in the NFL from 1987 to 2002 as a WR with the Philadelphia Eagles, Minnesota Vikings, and Miami Dolphins. He recorded 1,101 receptions and 13,899 receiving yards along with 130 receiving touchdowns. He also became an eight-time Pro-Bowler. In 2013, Carter was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Along the way, he became a mentor to Fitzgerald throughout his career. Fitzgerald played 17 seasons from 2004 to 2020, entirely with the Cardinals. He was an 11-time Pro Bowler, two-time NFL receptions leader (2005, 2016), and two-time NFL touchdowns leader (2008, 2009). Fitzgerald is second all-time behind Jerry Rice in receptions with 1,432 and receiving yards with 17,492.

Carter never played in a Super Bowl, whereas Fitzgerald did in 2009 in Super Bowl XLIII, where the Cardinals lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-23.
