Tuskegee University releases new docuseries for huge milestone

Tuskegee University is preparing to make history on the soccer field, and fans will soon get a front-row seat to the journey. The historic HBCU is set to be featured in “Unveiling History,” an upcoming docuseries chronicling the launch of Tuskegee’s inaugural NCAA Division II men’s and women’s soccer programs, marking a major new chapter for Golden Tiger athletics.

The docuseries will follow the players, coaches, and administrators behind the historic programs as they navigate the challenges and excitement of building two teams from the ground up. From assembling inaugural rosters and establishing a team culture to preparing for their first-ever seasons, “Unveiling History” will capture the work that goes into bringing a completely new sport to one of the nation’s most storied HBCUs.

More than a look behind the scenes, the upcoming series will document a milestone more than a century in the making. As Tuskegee prepares to take the pitch for the first time in its 145-year history, “Unveiling History” will spotlight the student-athletes and coaches laying the foundation for what the university hopes will become the next lasting tradition in Golden Tiger athletics.

Best known for his work on The Quad and The Game, Brian Egeston will serve as executive producer and Bryan Horne as director.

In an interview with The Root, Egeston, an HBCU alumnus himself, spoke about the importance of HBCUs.

​”HBCUs are all I know. I was probably eight years old before I realized that white people went to college,” Egeston joked. “My aunt got her PhD at the University of Arkansas, and I was at the graduation. I’m like, ‘Why are these white people here? I had no idea that white people go to college. So HBCUs are a part of my DNA. It’s a part of my fabric. I hope my son will be a fourth-generation HBCU grad in our family.”
