Fever star Caitlin Clark receives attention-grabbing MVP endorsement

The Indiana Fever put together another strong performance on Tuesday. Indiana beat Toronto 101-95 to improve to 24-12 on the season. Now the Fever are receiving plenty of hype as the playoffs inch closer and closer. That includes MVP hype for Indiana’s superstar point guard.

Sportscaster Linda Cohn shared her opinion on who should win MVP in the WNBA this season during a recent interview. Cohn endorsed Caitlin Clark for the supreme honor.

“If I had a vote, I would vote for [Clark]  because nobody touches the ball more than her, the offense goes through her,” Cohn said on Wednesday via Yahoo Sports Daily. “I saw a stat that was remarkable in WNBA history. She creates either with her assists or with her scoring.”

Clark has received plenty of MVP hype in recent days, especially after being named Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the fourth time this year.

Cohn added that Clark’s teammate Kelsey Mitchell should also be in consideration for the award.

“Her and Kelsey Mitchell [are] the best tandem in the WNBA,” Cohn added. “I would put Kelsey Mitchell, if it’s not Caitlin Clark, I don’t know why Kelsey Mitchell isn’t right there also with some other candidates for MVP.”

Clark and Mitchell are the W’s best scoring tandem right now, so it makes sense to talk about both players related to the MVP race.

Cohn also questioned what exactly should define “most valuable” in these MVP discussions. She cited A’ja Wilson as an example of an elite player who may arguably be less valuable than Clark.

Ultimately, Cohn seems comes down on the side of positional value and abstract importance more than anything else. By that measure, she believes Clark should be up there with Wilson in the MVP discussion.

Cohn also concluded by dismissing the possibility of Olivia Miles winning MVP because she is a rookie.

It will be exciting to see if Clark can win MVP in her third WNBA season. Hopefully she can stay hot for the rest of the regular season to give herself the best chance to win MVP.
