Jim Harbaugh reveals how Mike McDaniel is fitting in with Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers are currently gearing up for Week 2 of the NFL preseason, which will take place on Thursday evening against the San Francisco 49ers. The Chargers have already announced that Justin Herbert and the starters will play some during that contest, as the team looks to get its offense in order under new coordinator Mike McDaniel.

Recently, Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh stopped by ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show to break down how McDaniel has been fitting in so far with Los Angeles.

“I love Mike McDaniel and the energy he brings.. He will do anything and everything for the team.. There’s football nuggets every single day,” said Harbaugh, per Pat McAfee on X, formerly Twitter.

Indeed, McDaniel has long been lauded for his knowledge of the game, and his ingenuity has been behind some elite offenses over the years, including the Miami Dolphins setting records in the early portion of the 2023 season, when he was their head coach.

McDaniel parted ways with the Dolphins earlier this offseason and accepted the offensive coordinator role with the Chargers, where he will look to build a revamped offensive attack around Herbert, who is an undeniable elite talent but has consistently come up short in the biggest moments throughout his career.

The Chargers have made the playoffs in each of their first two seasons under Harbaugh, but the hope is that with McDaniel now in the mix, the team will be able to take another step toward legit contention in a crowded AFC playoff picture.

In any case, the Chargers are set to kick off their regular season on September 13 with a home game against the Arizona Cardinals.
