Seahawks GM John Schneider admits he would’ve cut Terrion Arnold after arrest despite agreeing to sign him

The current season of HBO’s Hard Knocks on the Seattle Seahawks has not shied away from the team signing Terrion Arnold after his arrest and ongoing legal troubles.

In the latest edition of Hard Knocks, which aired on Aug. 18, Seahawks general manager John Schneider admitted they “probably would have had to let him go” had Arnold been on Seattle when he was arrested. This is a surprising admission, given that Schneider ended up coming to terms with the third-year cornerback.

And yet, they signed him, or at least are in the process of doing so. There is an agreement in place to bring Arnold to Seattle, but it isn’t official yet. Reports have surfaced saying the signing could be delayed until after the Seahawks’ final preseason game.

The Seahawks reached an agreement with Arnold, who had offers from seven teams, after his arrest, which led to him being released by the Detroit Lions. The Lions had drafted him in the first round of the NFL Draft a couple of years ago, but his off-field controversy was enough to get him cut.

Arnold is facing criminal charges for his part in a kidnapping plot. He allegedly orchestrated a plot that led to the kidnapping and beating of three men. He suspected them of stealing from him.

During his first two years in the NFL, he has logged 91 tackles (70 solo and 21 assists), 18 passes defended, and one interception. He also played in a postseason game with the Lions.

While in college, he made First-team All-SEC and First-team All-American in 2023. The prior year, he made the Freshman All-SEC Team and was named Freshman All-American.

Fans will have to monitor the situation with Arnold. He is on the exempt list, and it remains to be seen where his off-field legal troubles will go.
