Yankees’ Aaron Boone reveals Cody Bellinger’s potential injury return date
New York Yankees star Cody Bellinger is working his way back from a hamstring injury. It seems as if the left-handed slugger could return soon.
“Cody Bellinger will play LF tonight for @swbrailriders. He’ll be off tomorrow and could be activated with the Yankees on Sunday, Aaron Boone said,” Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reported on Friday.
It is a big update to say the least. The Yankees would especially love to have him return after losing Ryan McMahon to the injured list on Friday.
Bellinger earned the third All-Star selection of his career this season. It was his first All-Star selection since the 2019 campaign. He has made a significant impact, but Bellinger has only appeared in 102 total contests because of injuries. Overall, the 31-year-old is hitting .259/.350/.420 to go along with 11 home runs, 21 doubles, three triples and 10 stolen bases.
The Yankees will continue to monitor and provide updates on Cody Bellinger’s injury status as they are made available.
New York entered its game on Friday night against the Toronto Blue Jays with a 72-55 overall record. The ball club is in second place in the American League East standings. The Yankees are four games behind the Tampa Bay Rays as well. New York leads the American League Wild Card race as well.
The Yankees are in a respectable position and they are likely only going to improve over the next few weeks. Bellinger is set to return soon, while stars such as Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton should return from injuries before the postseason as well.
