Rashod Bateman arrested for family violence in June, Ravens release statement
The public just learned that Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman was arrested in June for allegedly smashing the windows of his ex-girlfriend’s car, per TMZ. Their 3-month-old baby was reportedly in the backseat at the time the incident is said to have occurred. Bateman faces charges of family violence, reckless conduct and first-degree criminal damage to property. The team has known about its player’s legal case from the onset and broke silence on Friday.
“We are aware of the situation involving Rashod and have been in direct communication with him,” the Ravens said in a statement, per ESPN reporter Jamison Hensley. “We notified the league office and have been cooperating throughout the process. As this is a pending legal matter, we will not have further comment.”
Bateman turned himself into the Walton County, Georgia Sheriff’s Office on the day of the alleged offenses. The arrest warrant says glass shattered and left multiple lacerations on the woman’s face. The 26-year-old pass-catcher asked the court to remove the no-contact order a couple weeks later, stating that the alleged victim told him that she wanted to engage in contact. The judge approved the request under the condition that Bateman complete a class.
This is an active case, so fans may not receive any more clarity for awhile. Baltimore begins its 2026 campaign in a Sunday afternoon road matchup versus the Indianapolis Colts on Sept. 13.
Rashod Bateman signed a three-year, $36.75 million contract extension in June following a breakout 2025. He faded into obscurity last season and missed a few weeks with an ankle injury. Given that the Ravens have known about the arrest for months, it seems unlikely that they will take action before the case concludes.
