Mike Brown reveals surprising injury during Game 1 vs. Cavs
The New York Knicks struck first, taking Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers in a come from behind victory. But is there a potential, until now, undisclosed injury issue that Knicks fans have to worry about going forward against the Cavs? Well according to head coach Mike Brown there is.
Rest assured Knicks fans, it doesn’t have anything to do with anybody on the court, as Mike Brown jokingly revealed that he himself had suffered a calf injury during the team’s Game 1 win against the Cavs, as per SNY Knicks. But it won’t affect his status for Game 2.
“I’m good to go,” Brown said. “I would have blown my Achilles out if I didn’t have on my PF Flyers. I had on my PF Flyers and so they gave me a little support I needed. It’s old school!”
Following a brief hiatus after the PF Flyers brand was acquired by New Balance and eventually discontinued, the shoes have made a return and Brown is no doubt grateful for that. The brand has had a firm place in the NBA shoe pantheon dating back to when former Boston Celtics star Bob Cousy signed the first ever shoe endorsement deal with the company.
As far as the injury in question, Brown seemingly hurt himself right near the end of regulation of Game 1 as he rushed out onto the court after the officials did not see him trying to call a timeout.
In the end, the Knicks ultimately didn’t need that timeout as they won in overtime. And Brown received a huge break as the injury wasn’t as severe as it could have been.
