The Memphis Grizzlies are in serious mourning following the passing of 29-year-old guard Brandon Clarke. While the circumstances surrounding his death remain unknown, the tributes continue to pour in.

On Friday, the Grizzlies released a video celebrating Clarke’s life, featuring a collage of images from his life.

On Thursday, Memphis fans placed flowers outside the FedExForum.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and the Grizzlies’ teammates issued tribute statements.

Clarke, a native of Vancouver, was drafted by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2019 NBA Draft. He was then traded to the Grizzlies. In 2020, Clarke emerged as a blossoming young talent. He made the 2020 NBA All-Rookie First Team. He averaged 12.1 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.

Along the way, the Grizzlies made four playoff appearances, including a trip to the 2022 Western Conference Semifinals. In 2022, he signed a four-year, $52 million rookie-scale contract extension.

Clarke missed a significant portion of the 2025-26 season after sustaining a PCL sprain in his right knee, which required surgery. He played only two games.

Off the court, Clarke established the Brandon Clarke Foundation to promote youth literacy.

Meanwhile, he is being investigated as a possible drug-related case. On May 11, authorities responded to an emergency call at the home of Clarke in the San Fernando Valley section of Los Angeles. They found him unresponsive and found drug paraphernalia, leading to speculation that he died from an overdose.
