Celtic fans love what club posts minutes after Rangers suffer Europa League humiliation

Celtic appeared to waste little time in teasing arch-rivals Rangers after their Europa League run came to an embarrassing end.

Rangers have been knocked out of qualifying in Europe’s second-tier competition by Jagiellonia Bialystok, who won 3-2 on aggregate.

The Scottish powerhouses returned to Ibrox on Thursday night after a 2-1 defeat in the first leg and looked set to overturn the tie as they got off to an ideal start.

Summer signing Lawrence Shankland scored a penalty on 19 minutes to level the aggregate score.

Extra time looked set to decide the outcome until Nik Prelec headed in for the visitors with 25 minutes left to play.

Rangers were unable to respond and, as a result, have been knocked out of the Europa League in the third qualifying round.

It means they drop into the Conference League play-offs, where they will face Czech side FK Jablonec for a spot in the league phase.

What did Celtic post after Rangers lost?

Glaswegian adversaries Celtic appeared to poke fun at Rangers and their European demise on X just moments after the full-time whistle.

They posted a picture of new arrival Mika Baur, a German midfielder who has joined from SC Paderborn, signing his contract.

“Goodnight, Celts!” they captioned the post, and fans loved the cheekiness as one commented: “Absolutely superb timing.”

“We see what you did there,” a second added below the post.

A third said: “Timing is everything, admin.”

Bad to worse for Rangers

Loud boos rang out from the Rangers faithful as they extended their winless run at the start of this season to four.

Derek McInnes, who was only appointed as manager in June, is already facing the pressure as they fall further behind Celtic.

Rangers came from behind to draw 1-1 at Dundee United in their first Scottish Premiership match.

The first leg defeat to Jagiellonia was then followed by a 2-1 home loss to Hibernian in the league.

Boos were also heard at full-time in that match, with Rangers already five points off leaders Celtic after two matches.

Defeat to Hibernian also saw Youssef Chermiti, who was of interest to Galatasaray in a potential £34million move, suffer an ACL injury.
