John Schneider trying anything to get Blue Jays to ‘f***ing go’
John Schneider is trying everything he can to inject some life into the Toronto Blue Jays.
With Toronto attempting to stay alive in the American League playoff race, Schneider has apparently decided that turning up the volume might help provide the energy his club desperately needs.
According to Keegan Matheson, Schneider has cranked up the in-stadium music through speakers in the Blue Jays’ dugout. And the Toronto manager had quite the explanation for it.
“It’s like the crowd. You can already hear it, but if you can really hear it, that goes under the category of ‘full send,'” Schneider said. “Like, let’s fucking go.”
That’s one way to send a message.
The Blue Jays haven’t had the season they envisioned, but they’re not completely out of the postseason picture. Toronto still has an opportunity to climb back into the AL Wild Card race, although the clock is quickly becoming its biggest enemy.
The Jays are just 1.5 games back of the final Wild Card spot; however, they remain behind the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Texas Rangers, Minnesota Twins, Detroit Tigers, and Cleveland Guardians, all of whom have a better record by at least 0.5 games.
At this point in August, every game matters.
Schneider can shuffle the lineup, make pitching changes, and search for favorable matchups, but there’s only so much a manager can control. Eventually, the players have to provide the results. Toronto doesn’t have the luxury of waiting around for something to change. A prolonged winning streak could completely alter the outlook of its season, while another extended skid could effectively end it.
They have won three in a row. A win again on Thursday to sweep the Red Sox would give them a ton of momentum.
