Dodgers’ Freddie Freeman ‘sore’ in 4 different spots after dugout fall, but there’s a silver lining
The Los Angeles Dodgers are coming off a sweep of the Kansas City Royals and are opening up a four-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers for the weekend. They may not have Freddie Freeman for the series. Freeman took a scary fall into the visitors’ dugout going after a pop-fly in foul territory.
Now, Freeman is talking about the extent of his injuries, per ESPN.
“I didn’t hit my head, so that was the key part there,” Freeman said. “I am sore. Kneecaps are sore. Shoulder is sore. Hand sore. Wrist sore. I mean, I fell. (But) I’m in good spirits.”
Freeman was able to finish the inning before being pulled in the bottom of the inning. Still, the Dodgers star knows he was lucky to avoid major injury.
“I went to lean, like I was going to lean against the rail to catch the ball — and obviously there was no rail,” Freeman said with a smile. “Luckily, I was tall, so I missed everything else.”
Royals staff rushed to Freeman’s side to make sure he was okay, before the Dodgers’ training staff rushed across the field.
“I think that we really dodged a bullet,” Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts said. “Very scary visually. For right now, he’s in good spirits, which I think is a good sign. Just kind of total body soreness.”
The Dodgers are 73-48 on the year, which places them with the best record in the NL West. They are currently a game behind the Milwaukee Brewers for the best record in the National League. The Brewers and Dodgers begin their series Thursday, and it is unknown whether Freeman will be playing.
