Arch Manning trainer all aboard USC quarterback Jayden Maiava hype train after offseason workouts
There are high expectations for USC in 2026, with hopes of a run to the College Football Playoffs. Part of those expectations come from the projected growth of USC quarterback Jayden Maiava.
There is a ton of buzz around Maiava. Quarterback coach David Morris, who is the founder of QB Country and has trained Arch Manning and John Mateer, raved about the Trojans quarterback, per Pete Nakos of On3.
“He’s got a great balance of competitive juice along with an easiness,” Morris said. “It’s kind of the best of both worlds from that standpoint. He’s got a great demeanor. He really enjoys working, really enjoys the game and the guys love him. Just impressed with his overall balance.”
Maiava started his career at UNLV, completing 63.5 percent of his passes for 3,085 yards and 17 touchdowns. He would then move to USC, taking over the starting job late in the year. He would go on to pass for 1,201 yards and 11 touchdowns. Last year, as the full-time starter, he passed for 3,711 yards with 24 touchdowns and ten interceptions. He also ran for six touchdowns on the ground.
Maiava worked on his footwork and body control when working with Morris both individually in Los Angeles and at the Manning Passing Academy. Morris walked away from the sessions impressed by Maiava’s “pure arm talent” and also his ability to move the ball down the field.
