Warriors’ Joe Lacob teases 2 ‘very big trade offers’ as part of ‘secret dealings’ that failed

Fans can be forgiven to be left extremely frustrated with the lack of movement the Golden State Warriors have made this offseason. Yaxel Lendeborg, brought in as the 11th overall pick of the 2026 NBA draft, remains the only addition to date as Joe Lacob and co. continue to look for improvements to allow Stephen Curry to launch another title charge.

But well, there appears to be no lack of effort from Golden State’s front office, with Lacob revealing that the Warriors made more than two major offers in recent months, per The San Francisco Standard. While one of them can be assumed to be for LeBron James, the Warriors were also linked to Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kawhi Leonard before they eventually signed with the Miami Heat and the Toronto Raptors.

“We have to make a good trade. We have to make a trade that makes sense. If we thought we had a great trade in front of us — and, by the way, without talking a little too much, more than I should about secret dealings that went on in the offseason, we made at least two very big offers in the last six months, let’s put it that way. Between the trade deadline and the summer. At least two that were multiple draft choices,” Lacob revealed.

The Warriors owner cited the example of Jimmy Butler, claiming that the franchise remains committed to making ‘good trades.’

“So it’s not like we wouldn’t move them if we thought it was the right thing to do. We moved one for Jimmy when we got him then. I can tell you that there were offers we did make that were more than two.”

Golden State finished 10th in the Western Conference last season after recording a 37-45 record in the regular season. They won their first play-in game against the Los Angeles Clippers, but were dumped out by the Phoenix Suns in the second game.

The fact that they are yet to make additions this offseason may not be a reflection of the front office’s efforts. However, there is little doubt that Stephen Curry, who is already 37, is running out of time as far as another ring is concerned, and appears to have every right to be left frustrated with their dealings this offseason.
