Signs point to possible Malik Nabers Week 1 injury return for Giants
The New York Giants are feeling optimistic ahead of the 2026 NFL season. Head coach John Harbaugh has brought new life to the organization, sparking an exciting offseason of activity. The Giants could be a truly dangerous team in the NFC if one of their best offensive players gets back to full health before the regular season.
ESPN’s Jordan Raanan gave an optimistic injury update on Malik Nabers now that training camp is up and running.
“The biggest story coming out of Giants training camp, after 12 days in West Virginia, is the progress of star wide receiver Malik Nabers,” Raanan said on Sunday. “He didn’t start the summer on the PUP list, participated in nine of the 10 practices in West Virginia, and looked better as the summer progressed. Nabers cut, ran routes, looked good doing it, even jumped and landed on the affected knee that he tore early last season.”
Nabers tore his ACL late in September of the 2025 season. He only managed 18 receptions for 271 receiving yards and two touchdowns before that season-ending injury.
“I asked coach John Harbaugh what’s next in the process and he said more time he’ll get in practice,” Raanan added. “That means live drills, either seven-on-seven or 11-on-11, the expectation is sometime in the next couple of weeks.”
There is even hope that Nabers could be ready in time to play in New York’s season opener. But to make that happen, Nabers cannot afford to have any further setbacks.
“Barring a setback, it seems that Nabers is trending towards being ready Week 1 for the Dallas Cowboys,” Raanan concluded.
Nabers has just over one month to get ready for New York’s primetime battle with Dallas on Sunday Night Football.
Hopefully the star wide receiver can pick up right where he left off during his impressive rookie campaign.
