Alvaro Morata linked with shock new club just two months after signing for Como permanently

Alvaro Morata is reportedly being eyed up for a shock European exit to the MLS having been identified as an alternative to Romelu Lukaku.

The 33-year-old only joined Como on a permanent deal from AC Milan in June having spent the 2025/26 season at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.

Morata featured in 30 games in all competitions for the Blue and Whites – scoring just once.

Despite failing to find the back of the net from his 26 Serie A outings, Como activated his buyout clause worth around £8.5million.

Having helped his side secure Champions League football for the first time in the club’s history, Morata may not be playing a part in Como’s maiden European campaign.

The former Chelsea man could be on the move once again to join his eighth different team – this time in America.

Mor drama

Italian reporter Gianluca Di Marzio has declared that Atlanta United are keen to sign the 87-cap Spain international.

Di Marzio has claimed that the ex-Real Madrid star has also been the subject of an enquiry from Deportivo La Coruna as they weigh up bringing him back to LaLiga.

While Morata has also had enquiries from clubs in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Mexico.

And now Atlanta are pursuing the centre-forward, where he would play alongside Newcastle cult hero Miguel Almiron.

The 2018 MLS Cup champions are said to have turned to Morata having accepted defeat in their pursuit of Lukaku.

However, it so far remains to be seen whether Morata will decide to test himself in America at this stage of his career.

Taking a Luk

As for Lukaku, talkSPORT understands that the Napoli marksman could be the latest high-profile player to make the move to Turkey this summer.

Premier League winners Mohamed Salah and Leandro Trossard have joined Trabzonspor and Besiktas respectively so far this window.

Now, Lukaku could be heading to Fenerbahce having agreed personal terms with the Istanbul giants.

It is believed that Napoli are prepared to part ways with the Belgian striker should they receive an offer in the region of £8.5m.

Napoli have already knocked back a bid worth £5.1m from Fenerbahce.

The two clubs are in advanced talks regarding a transfer, which would bring an end to Lukaku’s two years spent in Naples.
