Tristan Peters reveals mindset behind recent White Sox success

Tristan Peters had high remarks about the Chicago White Sox’s level of resilience following their 6-3 win over the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday night.

Peters is going through the second season of his career in the majors, his first with the White Sox. He spent his rookie campaign with the Tampa Bay Rays before landing on the Chicago squad.

Going into Saturday’s contest, Chicago was going through four consecutive losses. They suffered a three-game sweep to the Boston Red Sox then lost the series opener to the Guardians. The team was in need of a win to get back on track, which Peters and the squad pulled off with the victory in the middle contest.

Peters reflected on the win after the game on the FOX broadcast with reporter Ken Rosenthal. Patience has been key for him and Chicago as they remain active in the AL playoff picture.

“I faced him one time before, and he stayed away from me with his fastball, and that’s kind of what I was thinking he’d do again. And I was trying not to do too much with him,” Peters said when facing Colin Holderman in the sixth inning.

“We’re just having fun playing this game, and at the same time, we take it day by day. The most important day is today.”

How Tristan Peters, White Sox played against Guardians

Tristan Peters and the White Sox are back on the win column, beating the Guardians throughout the latter half of the game.

Neither team got on the scoreboard until Cleveland scored two runs in the fifth inning. Chicago fired back with five runs in the same frame, something that the Guardians were unable to recover from.

Chicago improved to a 60-56 record on the season, controlling the top spot in the AL Central Division standings. They are above the Minnesota Twins and the Guardians at the moment.

The White Sox will look forward to their series finale against the Guardians. That contest commences on Aug. 9 at 2:10 p.m. ET.
