Seahawks HC Mike Macdonald explains Jadarian Price’s absence from practice

Mike Macdonald had to provide an update on Jadarian Price following his recent absence from the Seattle Seahawks’ practice ahead of the 2026 NFL season.

Price is preparing for the rookie campaign of his NFL career after a great college career at Notre Dame. He represented the Fighting Irish throughout all four seasons from 2022 to 2025, shining in the offense despite being the secondary option behind Jeremiyah Love.

Price may have chances to shine in the depth chart, especially after Kenneth Walker left for the Kansas City Chiefs. Zach Charbonnet returns as one of the leading rushers, presenting an opening for Price to earn reps in 2026.

The rookie running back is adapting to life in the NFL while getting comfortable with his Seattle teammates. However, he was absent from another practice as Macdonald delivered an injury update, per reporter Jeremy Fowler.

“Seahawks first-round pick Jadarian Price is missing practice for a second consecutive day, but his absence is not serious. Head coach Mike Macdonald says Price has leg soreness but is expected back in a few days. He has highly impressed Seattle in camp,” Fowler wrote.

What lies ahead for Jadarian Price, Seahawks

Jadarian Price can play a key role in the Seahawks offense, especially as they attempt a repeat in Super Bowl titles.

Price excelled in his final year at Notre Dame. Throughout 12 games in 2025, he recorded up to 113 rushes for 674 yards and 11 touchdowns while making six catches for 87 yards and two touchdowns.

They will enter the season as the defending Super Bowl champions and hope to improve or match their 14-3 record from the previous season. They also intend to make the playoffs in consecutive seasons for the first time since 2018-2020 and be the first NFC team to repeat as Super Bowl champions since the 1993 Dallas Cowboys.

The Seahawks begin their title defense at home. It’s a Super Bowl rematch as they face the New England Patriots on Sept. 9 at 8:20 p.m. ET.
