Jordan Walker finally goes yard for 1st time since Home Run Derby

Jordan Walker entered Saturday against the Colorado Rockies with a home run-less streak. Fans hadn’t seen the St. Louis Cardinals star rip one deep since his epic MLB Home Run Derby performance. Walker even battled a knee injury during the New York Yankees series.

But the 2026 home run king finally went yard.

Walker faced one strikeout after swinging and missing on a 77 miles per hour curve ball. But he smacked a 79 mph changeup on the next pitch, sending the baseball 432 feet into the sky before scaling the outfield wall at Busch Stadium.

That solo rip cut the Rockies lead to 7-5 during that inning. Once again Cardinal fans hadn’t seen Walker blast a home run in nearly a month. But that single home run couldn’t lift the Cards past the Rockies, as Walker and STL took the 8-6 loss.

Walker blasted the only homer of the evening for the home team. He finished with one run on five at-bat attempts.

Jake McCarthy rose as the home run king on this evening, though. The Colorado star blasted two homers total; the first one rising as a lead off home run that traveled 420 feet and the second arriving in the top of the sixth. The latter blast drove one other runner in and handed the Rockies a 7-3 lead.

St. Louis entered on a two-game winning streak too while also winning four of its last five. The Cardinals still have slim playoff hopes in now dropping to 58-59 overall, keeping them at third overall in the National League Central Division.
