Orioles acquire slumping Tigers catcher for Wild Card push
The Baltimore Orioles are one of several teams that are expected to make some moves before the August 3 trade deadline. However, the club finds itself in an odd position, as the team is technically in the hunt for a Wild Card spot but appears to be just on the outside looking in. On Thursday, the front office made a deal with the Detroit Tigers that may indicate the organization’s plans for the deadline.
Reports indicate that the Orioles acquired 31-year-old catcher Jake Rogers from the Tigers, according to MLB insider Mark Feinsand. Baltimore sent minor league pitcher Zane Barnhart to Detroit in the deal.
“The Orioles have acquired C Jake Rogers from the Tigers for minor league RHP Zane Barnhart,” Feinsand reported.
