Bucks’ Myles Turner throws Doc Rivers all the way under bus with ‘crazy’ revelations

Myles Turner offered blunt criticism of former Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers during a recent appearance on Game Recognize Game with Breanna Stewart, detailing what he described as a lack of accountability within the organization last season.

Turner, who joined Milwaukee during a turbulent year for the franchise, described the team environment under Rivers as “crazy” while discussing how discipline was handled internally.

“It depends on the coach. So, Doc Rivers, he didn’t fine anybody. Guys were late all the time, guys were showing up to film whenever they wanted to show up. Guys were missing meetings. Like, it was one of the craziest things that I personally ever experienced,” Turner said.

The veteran center expanded on the situation by describing repeated delays involving team travel and scheduling.

“If the plane took off at 2:00, we weren’t leaving until 4:30. I’m being so serious, bro. It was crazy. Guys were an hour late to the plane… It got to the point where I just knew not to show up until like an hour after they said the plane was taking off. It was crazy,” Turner said.

Doc Rivers never gave out fines, players late for planes, and getting fined for not boxing out.

Myles Turner’s revelations about Giannis, Doc Rivers come amid Bucks transition

When asked which teammate was most frequently late, Turner specifically referenced Giannis Antetokounmpo.

“Giannis… Giannis is gonna show up whenever he wants really. I think that this kind of just came with the territory of that. And once I kind of saw what was going down, I was like, ‘hey man, more power to you. If they ain’t gonna fine you, do what you do except when we’re going to Dallas.’ That’s when I was like, ‘come on,’” Turner said.

The comments arrive during a period of major transition for Milwaukee after a disappointing season that led to Rivers’ departure. The Bucks have since hired Taylor Jenkins as their new head coach as the organization attempts to reestablish stability around Antetokounmpo and the rest of the roster.
