Dodgers’ Freddie Freeman exits game after scary fall vs. Royals

The Los Angeles Dodgers are among the best teams in baseball once again. And on Wednesday night, they took on the Kansas City Royals. It has been a relatively normal game for the most part. However, it involved a rather scary incident involving first baseman Freddie Freeman.

Freeman attempted to field a pop-up in foul territory in the top of the eighth inning. The ball appeared to drift toward the Royals dugout, causing Freeman to adjust. As he fielded the ball, he fell hard into the Kansas City dugout. Players from both teams rushed to see if he was okay, and he appeared to be fine at first. However, Tommy Edman pinch hit for Freeman in the bottom of the eighth.

Freeman is a vital part of this Dodgers lineup. The veteran infielder is a three-time World Series champion, winning twice with Los Angeles. In 2024, he was named World Series MVP for his incredible performance against the New York Yankees.

The veteran infielder is not hitting for power as much, with just 15 home runs thus far. However, he is making more contact, slashing .305/.378/.472 entering play on Wednesday.

The Dodgers are still running through MLB in 2026. Los Angeles is 72-48 at this time, atop the NL West. They are eight games ahead of the San Diego Padres for the division, as well, giving them quite the cushion heading into the final weeks of the season.

Freeman is an integral part of this team and a proven playoff performer. Hopefully, the Dodgers star was only taken out of Wednesday’s game as a precaution and avoided a serious injury from this terrifying fall.
