Mookie Betts remains red hot with back-to-back home run games

Mookie Betts once endured a career-worst slump one week ago. Times are far different now for the Los Angeles Dodgers star. He’s since ripped back-to-back home run games, the latest against the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday.

Facing a one-ball, zero strike count during the second inning, Betts pounded this deep blast over to left center field to tie things up at 1-1.

Betts punished a four-seam fastball that topped at 93 miles per hour from Daniel Lynch IV. That homer traveled 412 feet before scaling over the Chavez Ravine wall.

The short stop and multiple World Series winner is batting at a lowly .235 this season. Betts has looked nothing like the past perennial MLB All-Star of years past. Even manager Dave Roberts has moved him down the batting order on occasion, all in the name of re-boosting his confidence.

Ironically, Betts smashed his last home run during the same inning of Tuesday’s game. Although he swung and blasted that homer on the first pitch. Michael Wacha fired off a 90 mph cutter at Betts, who still sent the ball flying 378 feet over left field.

Betts previously smacked two home runs in a single game back on July 20 against the Philadelphia Phillies despite the 10-7 loss. He even produced three straight games of smacking at least one homer from June 24 to 27.

This version of Betts the Dodgers greatly will need during this time of year. Los Angeles continues to field the National League West’s best overall record at 72-48 overall. However, the Tampa Bay Rays now own the league’s best mark with a 74-46 showing.
