13-year NBA vet calls for more Spurs’ Victor Wembanayama elbows in NBA Playoffs
With the San Antonio Spurs preparing for Game 6 against the Minnesota Timberwolves, as the team has a chance to close out the series, there’s no denying that it’ll be an intense game, especially after the actions in Game 4. As Spurs star Victor Wembanyama elbowed Naz Reid in the face in Game 4, leading to an ejection, it garnered positive attention from a former player.
NBA analyst and former player Quentin Richardson was on “The Pat McAfee Show” and was asked about Wembanyama’s elbow to the face of Reid. Richardson would preface by saying that he’s glad Reid is okay and doesn’t want anybody to get hurt, but he “loved every second of it.”
“With that being said, I loved every second of it, I loved that he took the initiative, and I did think that it was intentional. I didn’t think he meant to hit him in the head or like really injured him, but I think when you’re a guy with a body like Wemby, and I think every big man is coming to the league that’s supposed to be a quote-unquote star, and when they are young, they’re gonna get tested,” Richardson said.
"I loved every second of it. I loved everything about it… He may need to do it another time or two before people really just leave him alone and stop swinging at the ball."

Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama may need to keep doing this, per this analyst
Richardson would continue about the altercation between the Spurs star in Wembanyama and Reid, further explaining why big men like the 22-year-old need to send a message to the rest of the league with his physicality. He would even say that a few more elbows might get that message across.
“And until you do this a couple times, you lay a couple people out, you gain that respect. I guarantee you, the guys are gonna think twice before they go buzzing around him like a nat at a barbecue when he gets those rebounds after they looked at him lay Naz Reid down like that, and he may need to do it another time or two before, before people really just leave him alone,” Richardson said.
At any rate, Wembanyama and San Antonio look to close out the series against Minnesota on Friday night.
