When is 2026 UEFA Super Cup? World Cup banned referee to oversee PSG vs Aston Villa
One of the opening games of the 2026/27 campaign is a clash between the two leading European champions next month.
Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain take on Europa League victors Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup.

PSG defeated Arsenal in the final of UEFA’s elite competition, claiming the title for the second straight year by sinking the Gunners.
The French giants beat the Premier League champions on penalties following a 1-1 draw, as Gabriel sent his decisive spot-kick over.
They are also the reigning Super Cup winners after beating Tottenham in the game last term, so they are aiming to go back-to-back in this clash.
As for Aston Villa, they won the Europa League with a comfortable 3-0 win over German side Freiburg in Istanbul.
This will be Villa’s first Super Cup appearance since 1983, having historically won their first European title in 44 years.
Somali referee Omar Artan was appointed as the lead official for the match after he was denied entry to the United States to officiate at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
