Qinwen Zheng achieves attention-grabbing feat in US Open win vs. Madison Keys

Qualifier Qinwen Zheng overcame a usually insurmountable 5-0 deficit in the third set and won seven straight games to stun the No. 22 seed in the third round of the 2026 US Open. The 23-year-old Chinese competitor is not a typical underdog, winning a gold medal at the Paris Olympics, advancing to the 2024 Aussie Open Final and reaching No. 4 in the world last summer. She was having a tough run, however, and faced certain elimination against an accomplished and seasoned opponent. Keys has experienced her share of bedlam over the last decade-plus, but she could not have predicted such a shocking turnaround this close to the Round of 16.
