Chicago Cubs star Pete Crow-Armstrong has the attention of the MLB world. In fact, he has captured the attention of the entire sports world. While he’s been on fire at the plate in recent action, the MVP hopeful is also one of the best defensive outfielders in the game. On Friday, he made a highlight reel catch during the Cubs’ 6-1 win over the Miami Marlins. The play led to a Pat McAfee post on X, formerly Twitter.

“This guy is unbelievable,” McAfee wrote.

Crow-Armstrong continues to fuel his MVP push. PCA is hitting .280/.375/.570 to go along with 39 home runs, 93 RBI and 33 stolen bases. His 8.6 WAR (according to Baseball Reference) is the best in baseball.

Before the season, it seemed as if upsetting Shohei Ohtani in the National League MVP race would be just about impossible given Ohtani’s two-way prowess as a hitter and pitcher. While Ohtani still has pitched this season — he’s made 14 starts — a knee injury has limited him to only hitting in recent months.

Between Crow-Armstrong’s massive season for a position player and Ohtani being limited on the mound, the Cubs superstar has emerged as the MVP favorite. Ohtani is still having a great season and he will draw serious MVP consideration, but everything Crow-Armstrong has accomplished cannot be overlooked.

Pat McAfee knows he’s a star. The entire sports world knows it. And, of course, Cubs fans are well aware of Pete Crow-Armstrong’s talent.

He will look to continue playing well as the Cubs play the Marlins once again on Saturday afternoon.
