WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event: Match card & bold predictions

WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event is finally here and is filled with a short yet exciting card. With four matches booked for the show, fans all across the world and at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.

However, this upcoming edition’s card, while stacked with big names, does not feature a single title match, making the stakes of the PPV feel a lot lower than they already are. Unlike regular WWE PLEs, Sunday Night’s Main Event will be available for fans to stream on Peacock in the USA, Sony Sports Network and the Sony LIV app in India, and WWE’s official YouTube channel across other major international markets. Sunday Night’s Main Event will take place at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, on Sept. 6, 2026.

This weekend’s Sunday Night’s Main Event is also a big change from its Saturday Night’s Main Event. With four huge matches confirmed for the show, here are ClutchPoints’ predictions for Sunday Night’s Main Event.

1. Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton

After clashing against each other at WWE WrestleMania 42, Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes are again set to run back their rivalry. While Rhodes emerged victorious at the end of their match, it was Orton who left the match with his head held high.

Orton and his ally Pat McAfee left Rhodes bloodied in the ring before closing the show’s main event. Absent for several months, Orton returned earlier this year at WWE SummerSlam 2026 and engaged in a feud with Rhodes again. With Rhodes having one victory over Orton, “The Viper” is expected to win this bout before giving Rhodes another win later at another PPV.

Our prediction: Randy Orton def. Cody Rhodes.

2. Baron Corbin vs. Lil Yachty (with Trick Williams)

Rapper Lil Yachty is set to make his WWE in-ring debut at Sunday Night’s Main Event against Baron Corbin. With his debut coming at such a big occasion, Yachty’s first match also comes with a major condition. If Lil Yachty can survive for five minutes against Corbin, then Trick Williams will earn a rematch for the United States Championship.

On paper, this looks like a guaranteed win for Corbin against someone who doesn’t wrestle, but WWE doesn’t always follow the traditional way out. This match is expected to be a comedy bout with some time stretches to reach the five-minute mark. There is also hardly any little doubt about Yachty lasting the entire five minutes to give Williams his title shot.

Our prediction: Lil Yachty survives the five minutes.

3. Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, and Tatum Paxley vs. Jade Cargill, Michin, and B-Fab

Tatum Paxley recently made her WWE main roster debut and found herself in the big leagues. Following her debut, she allied with Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss’ tag team. The trio is now set to take on Jade Cargill, Michin, and B-Fab.

While Cargill and Michin are expected to dominate the majority of the match against Paxley and Bliss, fans can expect Flair to make the save. Charlotte Flair can come out toward the end of the match and finish it off. There are literally no stakes in his match, and either Michin or B-Fab is expected to take the pinfall loss, keeping Cargill protected. It is also to be seen how WWE utilizes Paxley in the entire scenario and uses her in the match.

Our prediction: Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, and Tatum Paxley def. Jade Cargill, Michin, and B-Fab

4. Bron Breakker vs. Oba Femi

Fresh from his victory against Brock Lesnar, King Oba Femi now finds himself in a feud against Bron Breakker. Both Breakker and Femi are seen as WWE’s two top prospects and the torchbearers of the next generation.

Just days after his win over Lesnar, it would not look wise for WWE to have Femi lose to Breakker. However, having a young Breakker lose to Femi, while making him look tough, will also not look good for The Vision member.

WWE is expected to bring an unconventional end to this match and end it via DQ. Bronson Reed, out with an injury, is expected to return this month, and what better way to have him return at Sunday Night’s Main Event and attack Femi than to have “The Conqueror” win by DQ. Having Femi win via DQ, will neither hurt his nor Breakker’s momentum, and both men can finish the match on a high note. The two can later clash at another PLE with a bigger stake in place.

Our prediction: Oba Femi def. Bron Breakker via disqualification.
