Molly McCann dazzles in career-best win in front of Paddy Pimblett on cousin Katie Taylor’s card

Molly McCann left her opponent battered and bruised in a vicious display on her cousin Katie Taylor’s historic Croke Park fight card.

Former UFC star McCann was making her latest squared circle appearance as she looks to get lift on in her boxing career.

The popular Evertonian was making her fifth outing as a professional since signing with Eddie Hearn, on the card of her cousin and boxing legend Taylor.

‘Meatball’, the fan-favourite, put on a show against rugged British opponent Sylwia Doligala and cruised to victory with an all-action display.

Doligala was brave but was battered by the rampant McCann who dominated from the opening bell.

Her teammate and UFC superstar Paddy Pimblett watched on from ringside and got a huge reception as he was presented to the crowd.

And he beamed in delight as McCann was declared the victor.

After the scorecards were read out and McCann was declared a unanimous decision winner, the damage from the bout became clear.

The Wakefield native had a black left eye which was severely bruised, with swelling also around her nose and other eye.

Her face was also reddened having absorbed some damage during the sustained and gruelling beating.

DAZN’s Barry Jones was seriously impressed with the Everton fan, who did her family proud with what he suggested was a ‘career best victory’.

And it was hard to argue with McCann herself delighted with the victory.

She said: “I really wanted to get you the finish.

“I apologise, but she could take a dig, couldn’t she? A year next week I’ve been boxing.

“I’m doing OK, I’m doing well, it was a big step up. I handled myself and fought well.

“Matchroom is the greatest company I’ve ever worked for. This is unbelievable.”

Promoter Hearn then added: “We’re ready to move on to 10-round championship fights now.

“She has the platform because she deserves the platform.”
