Chelsea appear set to bring back a unique green kit for the 2027/28 season.

The Blues are expected to don the rare colour again 16 years after its last appearance, according to leaked images.

Sportswear giant Nike are reportedly putting the finishing touches to the shirt which has been described as ‘electric green’ in colour featuring the club’s customary royal blue.

It is not yet known whether the new design will be used as Chelsea’s away or third kit.

The leaked designs come from reputable kit experts Footy Headlines who shared the images on Saturday.

The shirt contains a deep royal blue Nike swoosh, club crest and sponsor on a bright green backdrop.

Blue is also visible on the collar and sleeves.

The shirt bears close similarities with the kit worn in the 2010/11 campaign.

That design caught the attention of fans due to its unusual colour scheme in comparison to past kits.

Green is a colour sporadically used by the west London club over the years.

Chelsea have used green on multiple occasions in the past and for three successive seasons in the late 1980s

Fans that are interested in the leaked design will have to wait a little while longer for the kit’s release.

The new Nike Chelsea 2027/28 electric green shirt is not expected to be available until next summer.

But the wait may prove to be worth it with Chelsea set to release one of their most dazzling designs in years.

Xabi Alonso faces his biggest test so far

The Blues are back in action on Sunday as they face a tough trip to champions Arsenal.

Xabi Alonso’s side have made a perfect start to the season with two wins from their opening two matches.

Chelsea are without a win against their London rivals in their last 11 meetings across all competitions.

Ahead of the trip to the Emirates Stadium, Alonso reaffirmed his happiness with Chelsea’s transfers despite having missed out on deadline day target Lamine Camara.

“I think that we are prepared and happy with the squad and the depth we have,” Alonso said.

“It’s a good balance of players from different stages. We need to build that energy during the week to perform at the weekends.

“So far, it has been a good start and now we know who is in the building. It’s good to have that certainty.

“We can be very happy with the whole transfer window,” he continued. “What we started talking about in May and early June – many things we have.

“It is a very balanced phase one we have made in this transfer window. Phase one is completed – it’s a good one for now and for the future.”
