Watch Rickie Fowler swing club backward to make par at RBC Heritage
The RBC Heritage is underway a week after the 2026 Masters. Rory McIlroy has done the unthinkable and won back-to-back Green Jackets to insert his name among the best of all time. McIlroy will not participate this week, as the winner of the Masters usually takes the week after off.
Scottie Scheffler, Collin Morikawa, Jason Day, Gary Woodland, Rickie Fowler, and some of the other best of the best in the PGA Tour are in South Carolina for this signature event.
Ludvig Aberg opened with a 63 on Thursday to take an early lead after Day 1; however, the San Diego native, Rickie Fowler, had an opportunity to even the score with Aberg on the day with a 63 himself. He got very close, shooting a 65, and is in a tie for 4th place.
On a tough tee shot on the Par 5 15th, Fowler’s ball landed so close to a tree that he was forced to use an iron and hit left-handed to clear it out of the woods.

One shot later, Fowler set himself up for a birdie with an electric approach shot. However, the birdie attempt missed by an inch to the right, and he would settle for par. Two holes later, however, Fowler would drain the birdie on the Par 3 17th for his 7th of the day. To end the day on 18, Fowler had another shot for birdie but just barely missed, settling for par.
Fowler began his afternoon with a birdie on the first, followed by three straight to move to -4 after the fifth hole. He birdied again on the seventh but bogied the 9th for his only real mistake of the day. He bounced back with a birdie on the 12th, using a putter from just off the green for his best shot of the day.
