Valkyries’ Veronica Burton makes WNBA history with insane assist-to-turnover ratio

Veronica Burton made incredible WNBA history for herself following the Golden State Valkyries’ latest stretch of games this season.

Burton is going through the fifth season of her career in the league, her second with the Valkyries. She shines as a key player in the rotation, having won Most Improved Player in 2025 while earning All-Defensive honors as well.

Burton has done an incredible job protecting the ball for Golden State. The last two game saw her put up 12 points and seven assists against the Connecticut Sun on Aug. 26 and have a stat line of eight points and 13 assists against the New York Liberty on Aug. 27. Those efforts, which saw her commit no turnovers at all, etched her into the record books of WNBA history. She also now boasts the all-time assist-to-turnover ratio, per Golden State’s social media page.

What lies ahead for Veronica Burton, Valkyries

Veronica Burton’s talents as a playmaker and defender are shining for one of the best performing teams in the WNBA. The Valkyries have a chance to make serious noise in the playoffs, looking forward to Burton’s growth on the biggest stage.

Burton has been rolling as a key player in Golden State’s rotation throughout Year 5. She is averaging 12.4 points, 5.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game throughout 39 appearances. She is shooting 43.3% from the field, including 36.8% from beyond the arc, and 81.5% from the free-throw line.

Golden State boasts a 28-11 record on the season, sitting at second place in the Western Conference standings. They are above the Las Vegas Aces and the Dallas Wings at the moment.

Rolling with three straight wins, the Valkyries will look forward to their next matchup. They are on the road when they face the Portland Fire on Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. ET.
