What Andrew Luck loves about working with Stanford players

Stanford football turned back its personal clock in hiring Tavita Pritchard as head coach. General manager Andrew Luck made the hire happen during Dec. 2025, bringing a former Cardinal home. Now Luck and Pritchard celebrated their first win together as GM and HC, defeating Hawai’i 37-27.

Luck was all smiles on the sidelines during the game, despite how warm it got on the field.

“It’s too hot out here, but I love it,” Luck said, adding what he loves about his role. “You get to run around and supporting everyone including the coaching staff.”

Luck feels more hands on with the Cardinal compared to even when he lined up at quarterback. He even helped off an injured Cardinal player during the game too.

Perhaps he watched a new quarterback star emerge at The Farm. Davis Warren handled the QB1 reins and looked efficient: 22-of-34 passing for 310 yards and tossed one touchdown.

Luck watched Pritchard turn to a familiar blueprint of Cardinal past: Pounding the ball with the running attack. Micah Ford answered the bell there, tallying 25 carries for 99 yards and scoring three touchdowns. Sedrick Irvin added some balance too in the ground game, spelling Ford with eight carries for 43 yards.

Warren produced six wide receivers who caught between two to five passes, with Benjamin Blackburn leading the way with five receptions. JonAnthony Hall led the way with 81 receiving yards.

Matt Rose led Stanford in piling nine tackles. Lonnie McAllister III delivered six tackles. So Pritchard and Luck got a glimpse of who the immediate contributors will be for this revamped Cardinal team.
