Watch Kyler Murray make his Vikings debut at OTAs
As the Minnesota Vikings go through their offseason, the biggest storyline surrounding the franchise will be their lingering quarterback battle. On Tuesday, fans got to see one of the two competitors make their Vikings debut.
Minnesota has begun their Organized Team Activities. The offseason program is giving the franchise, and their supporters, their first opportunity of seeing Kyler Murray in a Vikings uniform, via the team’s X, formerly Twitter account.

There are no pads and hardly any defense being played during OTAs. The Vikings won’t be able to fully evaluate Murray or fellow competitor JJ McCarthy throughout the sessions. However, in Murray’s case, he now gets a chance to start digesting Minnesota’s playbook and building chemistry with his new pass catchers.
The quarterback joined the Vikings in free agency after a seven-year run with the Arizona Cardinals. His tenure there started off with a bang, as he was named Rookie of the Year in 2019 and a Pro Bowler in both 2020 and 2021. But then the wheels started to fall off. After going 2-3 in 2026, he was benched and eventually released by the Cardinals.
Murray clearly saw an opportunity in Minnesota after entering free agency. The Vikings used the No. 10 overall pick in 2024 on McCarthy. But so far, he hasn’t lived up to the hype. After a lost rookie season, McCarthy completed 57.6 percent of his passes for 1,632 yards, 11 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 2025.
After missing out on the playoffs, the Vikings are looking to reclaim their seat at the postseason table. At the same time, Murray is trying to show he’s the right quarterback to lead them there. He and McCarthy will battle all offseason for the opportunity.
