Warriors’ Steve Kerr, Stephen Curry, Draymond Green share special moment in final scenes of Play-In loss

Steve Kerr, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green shared hugs with one another following the Golden State Warriors’ season-ending loss to the Phoenix Suns on Friday night.

The trio has been together since Kerr took the reins as the head coach in 2014, leading the franchise to a dynasty period of four championships in eight years from 2014 to 2022. Curry and Green have been at the heart of that success, representing Golden State with incredible pride.

However, results haven’t been the same for Golden State since the 2022 title run. They lost in the second round in 2023 and 2025 as they have been unable to get out of the play-in tournament in 2024 and most recently this season.

Golden State’s efforts to get the eighth seed fell short as Phoenix stopped them in their tracks. This ultimately ended the trio’s efforts to make another playoff run. As a result, Curry, Kerr and Green hugged as they commemorated another season as a unit.

How Stephen Curry, Warriors played against Suns

Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Steve Kerr will be busy this offseason. With the Warriors seemingly on a crossroads, it is possible that the roster might look drastically different next season.

Four players scored in double-digits for Golden State in the loss, including Curry. He finished with 17 points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals. He shot 4-of-16 from the field, including 3-of-10 from beyond the arc, and 6-of-6 from the free-throw line. Brandin Podziemski led the team with 23 points and 10 rebounds, De’Anthony Melton had 16 points and eight rebounds, Kristaps Porzingis put up 11 points, while Green provided five points and six assists.

Golden State finished the regular season with a 37-45 record, taking the 10th spot in the Western Conference standings. They are above the New Orleans Pelicans and the Dallas Mavericks while trailing the Suns and the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Warriors will look to significantly retool in the offseason, finding ways to acquire talent through the draft and free agency. Tough decisions might come their way regarding their veteran star core, but the franchise’s future will be dependent on the front office making those moves.
