Liverpool instantly reject ambitious £30m bid from Nottingham Forest for future star, 19

Liverpool have reportedly rejected a bid from Nottingham Forest for midfielder Trey Nyoni.

A £30million offer was lodged for the 19-year-old ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

The deal would have seen Forest pay a guaranteed £25million with a further £5million in add-ons.

According to The Athletic, the Reds immediately rebuffed the approach.

Nyoni’s Liverpool future

Nyoni is highly thought of at Anfield, with an exit this summer ruled out by the club.

Instead, Andoni Iraola expects the teenager to feature regularly this season, the report adds.

It comes after Liverpool decided against signing a replacement for Curtis Jones, who was sold to Inter Milan earlier this month.

Nyoni has been earmarked as a successor having joined the Reds’ academy from Leicester City in 2023.

He has since made 21 first-team appearances for the club, with his Premier League debut coming in December aged 18.

Harvey Elliott has also moved on loan to Valencia in another midfield exit for Iraola.

A loan exit was previously decided against last summer with Nyoni instead seen as a first-team candidate despite his age.

Liverpool had previously handed Nyoni a five-year professional deal last summer which expires in 2030.

Meanwhile, he was an unused substitute as the Reds beat Chelsea to win the Carabao Cup back in 2024 as a 16-year-old.

The England Under-19 international featured in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Forest, making a 13-minute cameo off the bench after replacing Alexis Mac Allister in midfield.

Victor Munoz subsequently grabbed the hosts’ equaliser just five minutes after Nyoni was introduced.

Liverpool transfer latest

Barring any major outgoings, Liverpool are not expected to make any further signings before Tuesday’s 11pm transfer deadline.
