Timothée Chalamet announces new movie with Spurs fan Selena Gomez after Knicks’ championship

Just over a week after the New York Knicks won their first championship in 53 years, a new movie with superfan Timothée Chalamet has been announced, and it also features San Antonio Spurs fan Selena Gomez.

The Knicks and Spurs will face off one more time in the new Illumination animated movie, Not Alone. This marks Chalamet’s first animated movie. He will voice a character named Joe, an “introverted rocket mechanic who lives a quiet life alone,” and Gomez will voice a character named Fran, a “brilliant astro-botanist.” A teaser poster was released for the project, and it shows two silhouettes standing on a planet.

The film’s synopsis (via Variety) reads: “When Joe and Fran are brought together to prepare for the inaugural launch of this revolutionary rocket, there are immediate sparks, but neither is particularly adept at romance. Life becomes more complicated when three aliens — tiny, unruly and adorable — take refuge in Joe’s home. Dunk, Welly and Shirm are on the interplanetary run from a zealous-yet-inept officer of the law named Zandro. The aliens determine that Fran’s rocket could provide their means of getting back home to safety.”

When does Timothée Chalamet and Selena Gomez’s new movie come out?

Not Alone will come out in April 2027. The poster doesn’t reveal the specific release date, but it will come out in the spring of 2027 in April. This will come out a few months after Dune: Part Three, which is slated for a Dec. 18, 2026, release.

Gomez, meanwhile, hasn’t appeared in a movie since 2024’s Emilia Pérez. She starred in Jacques Audiard’s crime film alongside Zoe Saldaña.

They were both watching the NBA Finals closely this year. It was a rematch of the 1999 NBA Finals between the Knicks and the Spurs. This time, however, New York came out on top, winning the series in five games.

Chalamet was at the games. He also celebrated with the team following their championship win, including going on a float at the parade. Now, he has a few months off before the Knicks’ quest for another championship begins in the fall.
