Patriots’ Christian Gonzalez drops truth bomb on how A.J. Brown trash talk will help both of them

The New England Patriots are just over a month away from kicking off their 2026 NFL season with a Super Bowl rematch vs the Seattle Seahawks. The Patriots had a busy offseason, headlined by the addition of AJ Brown in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Brown has been getting plenty of reps against Patriots star cornerback Christian Gonzalez at training camp, with the two exchanging plenty of trash talk in the process.

Recently, Gonzalez spoke on how those battles are helping both of them heading into the new season.

“It’s football at the end of the day. There’s never no disrespect or anything. We’re just battling and getting each other better. He’s going to face corners like that who are going to yap at him and try to get in his head, and I’m going to face receivers that like who are strong and come right back at me. It’s great work for the both of us,” he said, per Chad Graff of The Athletic on X, formerly Twitter.

Brown and Gonzalez are two of the best in the league at their respective positions, so it’s certainly been a sight to behold to see them in training camp every day.

Meanwhile, New England is hoping to get a new contract with Gonzalez done sooner rather than later. The young star has dealt with his fair share of injuries during his career, but when healthy, is already one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL and still has theoretical room to improve even more.

Brown is hoping to prove that his lackluster year in Philadelphia last season was a product of those around him and not his own dip in production.

The Eagles’ season will kick off on September 13.
