Packers’ GM all but guarantees Skyy Moore will make 53-man roster. What does that mean?
As Green Bay Packers training camp rears into high gear, Skyy Moore is in danger of being cut. But Packers GM Brian Gutekunst made an announcement that implies he will make the 53-man roster, according to Packers beat writer Rob Demovsky.
“Sounds like Skyy Moore will be on 53 and that the Packers think he’s more than just a returner. ‘I think Skyy’s going to help us as a returner and receiver,’ Packers GM Brian Gutekunst said. ‘I expect him to be part of our squad.” Demovsky wrote on X.
The expectations are high for Moore in Green Bay, and he will have many eyes on him as the season takes shape. Although he is not likely to be one of the pass catchers for Jordan Love, his production on special teams could set field position. Coach Mike LeFleur is setting the expectations, and that could complicate things for Moore. However, if he makes the roster, he can add a whole new element, especially if he is only on special teams. But he could also be used in many ways.
“If Brian Gutekunst is already anticipating Skyy Moore making the 53, sounds like #Packers are slotting 6 receivers onto their opening roster: Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, Matthew Golden, Savion Williams, Bo Melton and Moore,” Packers beat writer Ryan Wood added.
Moore spent 2025 with the San Francisco 49ers, mostly on special teams. He caught five passes. Additionally, he averaged 27.5 yards on kickoff returns and 11.6 yards on punt returns. If Moore makes the 53-man roster, he will likely serve in that capacity with the Packers.
