Jets’ Aaron Glenn delivers best-case scenario Kenyon Sadiq injury update after setback
The New York Jets have started training camp, but one key piece has not been on the field. Tight end Kenyon Sadiq, one of the Jets’ three first-round picks, has not participated in training camp due to a hernia injury. But Aaron Glenn told the media on Thursday that there is some good news on the tight end.
“Kenyon Sadiq will be out a couple weeks but Aaron Glenn said they got ‘good news’ on his injury and he should be back before the season starts,” The Athletic’s Zach Rosenblatt reported.
Sadiq was taken 16th overall by the Jets in the first round back in April. He had an electric career at Oregon, racking up 560 yards and eight touchdowns in his junior season alone. Combine that red-zone talent with Garrett Wilson and fellow rookie Omar Cooper Jr, and Geno Smith should have some weapons.
The reports around this injury are concerning for Jets fans who have hope for this season. Reportedly, the team knew about the hernia surgery when they took the tight end, but he did not get the surgery until a month later. Now, as he prepares for his first season in the NFL, he is missing valuable training camp time.
The news on Thursday is good, however, as Sadiq should be ready to go for Week 1. But when they face the Tennessee Titans, they will need their offense clicking on all cylinders immediately. After missing so much time, it will be hard for him to get up to speed with Smith.
The good news for the Jets is that they drafted Mason Taylor in 2025. He had a strong rookie season after going in the second round and could help Sadiq get up to speed. Could these two be the next great tight end duo in the NFL?
