Steelers’ 1st-round pick leaves training camp practice with apparent injury

The offensive line has been the Achilles heel for the Pittsburgh Steelers for quite some time. The front office addressed that issue in the offseason after taking offensive tackle Max Iheanachor with the 21st overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Unfortunately, during training camp practice on Thursday, Iheanachor was forced to leave early due to an injury, according to Mike DeFabo of The Athletic. It is believed the former Arizona State Sun Devil is dealing with an upper-body injury near his neck or shoulder. The exact status is not entirely clear.

“Steelers first-round pick Max Iheanachor left practice today with an apparent injury,” DeFabo wrote. “The right tackle was removed from practice shortly into team drills. Steelers head athletic trainer Gabe Amponsah appeared to be examining Iheanachor’s neck and shoulder area. Iheanachor watched one team period without a helmet and then walked off the field.”
