Storm’s Dominique Malonga makes WNBA history in game vs. Sky

Seattle Storm center Dominique Malonga will be a force to reckon with in the immediate future. Malonga has been on a steady rise as one of the league’s top players, and clearly, she has barely scratched the surface.

The Storm hosted the Chicago Sky at Climate Pledge Arena on Monday, and Malonga did not waste time in making her presence felt. While they have only won six games, it is hard not to appreciate her game, especially at 20 years old.

After grabbing her 300th career rebound against the Sky, she became the youngest player in league history to reach the feat, according to the Storm.

It was her second milestone in five days. On Wednesday, Malonga became the youngest player in league history to score 30 points and shoot 70% from the field in a game. She had 31 points on 14-of-20 shooting in their loss to the New York Liberty, 92-86, at Barclays Center.

The No. 2 pick in 2025 is averaging 17.1 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks entering the game against Chicago, earning her a spot in the All-Star Game for the first time.

Malonga, Flau’jae Johnson, and Awa Fam are the fast-rising cornerstones of the Storm, and it is only a matter of time until they lead the team back to respectability. Seattle is tied with the Houston Comets and the Minnesota Lynx for the most titles in league history with four apiece.

As of writing, Seattle is leading Chicago by double digits in the fourth quarter. Malonga has 22 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks.
