Sophie Cunningham slams interactions with ‘old creepy men’

It’s safe to say that WNBA guard Sophie Cunningham has had some crazy encounters with fans, as the 2025 Indiana Fever star detailed.

During an interview with GQ Sports, Cunningham was asked for her “wildest fan interaction.” Cunningham joked that she’s the “right person” to ask that.

“I get a lot of old, creepy men, so that would be the extreme not so good experiences,” Cunningham said.

While those are some negative interactions she has had, Cunningham is happy with some of them with young fans who are now into the WNBA more than ever.

“But the great experiences are all the little boys and girls who are just so excited and new to the WNBA and want to be like us,” she continued. “Inspiring them is probably like the most fulfilling thing you can do.”

Currently, Cunningham is an unrestricted free agent for the first time. She spent the 2025 season with the Fever after being traded by the Phoenix Mercury. Cunningham was moved as part of a four-team trade that also involved the Dallas Wings and Connecticut Sun.

During her first season with the Fever, Cunningham averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. She played in 30 games, starting 13 of them, before suffering a season-ending injury.

Cunningham played college basketball at Missouri from 2015 to 2019. In her freshman season, she was named SEC Freshman of the Year in 2016. She also made First-team All-SEC every year from 2017 to 2019.

Now, Cunningham faces a decision. While she has expressed interest in returning to the Fever, she has also seemed open to fielding all offers. Fans will have to wait and see where she lands.
