Robert Griffin III rips ‘lame’ Enes Kanter over Sky-Fever WNBA chaos

Enes Kanter has made quite a name for himself over the past month or so by purportedly championing the rights of women to their own space in professional sports. His methods, however, are quite unorthodox. By declaring for the 2027 WNBA Draft, and by extension, identifying as a woman, Kanter appears to be making a mockery of transgender identities and their alleged desire to invade spaces allotted for biological women.

Kanter took his crusade to the next level on Sunday by coming in to watch the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky compete against each other at Wintrust Arena in a rematch of a heated matchup a few weeks ago. The Turkish international even wore a shirt containing a definition of the word “woman”, further drumming up controversy.

It even got to a point where Kanter got involved in a chaotic exchange with Sky guard Natasha Cloud, which led to Kanter’s eventual ejection from the arena. Kanter continues to find ways to bring attention to himself, and many put him on blast for his actions — with Robert Griffin III being one of the latest prominent figures in sports to do so.

“Enes Kanter is causing more harm and damage to the women he claims he is trying to protect. THIS is lame,” Griffin wrote on his official X account.

Kanter has become a controversial political figure with his polarizing opinions, and the WNBA has been doing its best to distance itself from this issue. The Turkish international has been trying to force the WNBA’s hand to define what is a “woman” and who is eligible to play in the league in the first place.

If the WNBA make a definitive judgment to not let Kanter play simply by virtue of him identifying as a “woman”, Kanter and those who agree with his opinions would use this ruling to fuel their thrust to keep trans athletes out of women’s spaces. But it is important to note that this is not an issue for the WNBA to begin with, making this saga all the more bizarre.
