Fever’s Caitlin Clark ties bonkers WNBA record in wild Sky game

The Indiana Fever and guard Caitlin Clark closed their five-game road trip with a record-setting 113-90 win over the Chicago Sky on Sunday night. Clark finished with for 37 points and 10 assists, while Kelsey Mitchell added 30 points as Indiana snapped a two-game losing streak and improved to 25-14.

Clark connected on a career-best eight three-pointers, shooting 8-of-12 from beyond the arc. Her previous career high was seven, set against the Washington Mystics on May 15, 2026. Her 37 points also rank third for the most in a single game in Fever franchise history.

Indiana made 18 three-pointers as a team, setting a new franchise record. The Fever finished 18-of-33 from deep, with Clark and Mitchell accounting for 14 of those makes. Mitchell went 6-of-9 from three-point range while scoring at least 20 points for the 23rd consecutive game, extending her WNBA record for the longest such streak.

The biggest statistical achievement came from the pairing of Clark and Mitchell. Their 30-plus-point performances was the third time they have both reached that mark in the same game, giving them the most such games by a duo in WNBA history. They moved past the previous record of two, shared by Cappie Pondexter and Diana Taurasi, Kayla McBride and Olivia Miles, and A’ja Wilson and Jackie Young.

Clark also recorded her fifth career game with at least 30 points and 10 assists. The rest of the WNBA has combined for four such performances. Four of Clark’s five have come this season.

Her 10 assists also produced Clark’s 12th points/assists double-double of the season, leaving her three behind Alyssa Thomas’ league record of 15 in a single season. Clark’s 29th career points/assists double-double moved her past Sue Bird’s 28 for third place in WNBA history, and she reached the mark in her 88th game.

The Fever’s offensive burst came after a close opening half. The teams were tied 28-28 after one quarter, while the Sky led 51-50 at halftime. The Fever then scored 63 points after the break, including a 13-2 third-quarter run that pushed their advantage to 71-60. Indiana finished the fourth quarter ahead 30-13.

The victory was also the Fever’s 18th 100-point game this season, extending their league record. Indiana played without Aliyah Boston because of a right leg injury. Lexie Hull scored 14 points and Makayla Timpson contributed 12.

The loss eliminated Chicago from playoff contention following the Mystics win. Natasha Cloud led the Sky with 16 points and seven assists, while Azura Stevens had 14 points and eight rebounds.

The Fever returns home to face the Connecticut Sun on Friday, Aug. 28, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
