Shikhar Dhawan backs Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's fearless batting and bright future

Shikhar Dhawan has praised Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's approach to batting and his ability to perform at international level despite his young age. The former India opener highlighted the teenager's confidence in hitting boundaries and his mindset while competing against established teams.

Sooryavanshi has already made a significant impact in international cricket at a remarkably young age. The teenager became the youngest ever batter to score a half-century in men's T20Is, achieving this milestone at 15 years and 118 days. He finished as India's top scorer in the Zimbabwe T20I series with 151 runs as India completed a 3-0 sweep in the series.

"He is batting very superbly. And it's a very big thing that at the age of 15 or 16, reaching the international level first is a big thing in itself. Even when he was playing in the IPL. But the way he hits fours and sixes, that's a wonderful thing. Having skill is one thing, but having the heart for it, and that too at 15, is a very big thing. And I'm sure that his present is also very good and his future will also be very good," said Dhawan as quoted by Economic Times.

Sooryavanshi's early T20I achievements

In his early T20I appearances against England, Sooryavanshi recorded scores of 14, 13 and 15 across his first three matches. These performances demonstrated his ability to adapt to international cricket despite his inexperience at the highest level. His willingness to play positively and take on bowlers has already caught the attention of senior players like Dhawan.

The left-handed batter's rise through the ranks has been rapid. His aggressive approach and technical soundness at such a young age have marked him as a prospect for Indian cricket's future.
