World Cup winner showcases incredible physique aged 56 and gives fans achievable workout tip

France legend Bixente Lizarazu has done it all in his career and now he’s handing out top workout tips to his fans on social media.

The ex-Bayern Munich star, now 56, won it all as a player.

He scooped the Champions League, European Championship, World Cup and six Bundesliga titles, plus the Intercontinental Cup and individual awards from UEFA and FIFA.

And the left-back did it in the era of Roberto Carlos too.

Since retiring in 2006, Lizarazu hasn’t taken his foot off the gas, rather he’s put his foot to the floor.

By 2009 he was a European Champion, this time in the sport of Brazilian jiu jitsu.

He won it in the Blue Belt Senior 1 Light Division.

His physical ability has always been of repute with Zinedine Zidane once claiming only Lizarazu could have stopped him getting sent off in the 2006 World Cup final.

Not only did the 97-cap France legend take to BJJ, he has also been surfing, skiing, diving and cycling in his retirement.

And now he’s showcased his outrageous physique once more, this time warning his fans to look after their bodies.

He posted a workout video on Instagram where he only used his bodyweight or small weights.

With it, Lizarazu insisted that with age it’s important to stop your body losing muscle, but that doesn’t mean you have to lift heavy.

He said in the caption: “Weight training is important after 40, essential after 50… after that, I don’t know, we’ll see!

“My goal isn’t to gain muscle, but to avoid losing it.

“Are you familiar with sarcopenia?

“It’s the progressive loss of muscle mass and strength, mainly due to aging. We all go through it, sooner or later…

“So it’s good to have a complete, personalized weight training protocol.

“I have several.

“You’ll notice that I only use small equipment (dumbbells, kettlebells, TRX, bodyweight).”

A host of former players hailed him in the comments with ex-Liverpool and France star Djibril Cisse saying simply: “Incredible.”

Ex-Lyon and Nice star Anthony Mounier added: “Transfer window time!! If any club is looking for a left-back, I know one who’s still available.”

And former France goalkeeper Gregory Coupet said: “Beautiful animal.”
