Rams’ Aaron Donald teases special things with Myles Garrett amid NFL return

Los Angeles Rams are going to have a lot of excitement going into the 2026 season with Aaron Donald and Myles Garrett playing together in the defense. The former is also looking forward to his chemistry with his new co-star.

Donald has been in retirement following the 2023 season, recently being present in the Rams’ practice sessions. Following serious consideration, he ultimately decided to make his grant return to the only franchise he calls home.

Donald signed a one-year, $20 million contract with an additional $10 million in potential incentives that he could earn pending his performances. As for Garrett, he joined the team after Los Angeles landed him from the Cleveland Browns for Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick, and a 2029 third-round pick.

This presents a dynamic duo in the team’s defensive line, showing both players that will be Hall of Famers. Donald talked about his ongoing connection with Garrett during Sunday’s press conference, showing he is making progress with his star teammate.

“I talked to Myles… We teammates now… Hopefully we do some special things together,” Donald said.

What lies ahead for Aaron Donald, Rams this season

The Rams are going all in with Aaron Donald coming out of retirement. Contention for Super Bowl 61 is the top priority, as the 2026 season is the biggest chance for the team to seize.

Donald led Los Angeles to a Super Bowl title in 2021, representing the team for 10 seasons as he gears up for Year 11. 2023 saw him record up to 53 tackles, 16 TFL, eight sacks, and three pass deflections.

The Rams seek to improve upon their 12–5 record last season and make the playoffs for the fourth consecutive year. This will be the first season since 2022 without Mike LaFleur as offensive coordinator, as he departed to become the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals.

Los Angeles looks forward to the start of its season, traveling internationally to Australia. They begin the campaign against the San Francisco 49ers as kickoff takes place on Sept. 10 at 8:35 p.m. ET.
